Brewery
Restaurant
Austrian brewery & beer hall for signature lagers & classic plates amid modern rustic decor.
We started with disc golf around 930am, by the time we were done there was about 15 minutes before they opened. I tried to make last minute reservations online but was unsuccessful. So we waited for opening knowing we may not get a table. They seated us right away! We enjoyed EVERY BIT of our meal and drinks. The Radler is AMAZING! we started w the pretzel & beer cheese, split the bratwurst and crackers & dips tray. They were out of hummus but I wasn't sad (more trout dip for us!). Plus the view does NOT SUCK! Is it cheap? No. Is it astronomical? No. I think for the atmosphere, the delicious food and drink, it was 100% worth it.

We headed here to grab a beer and play some disc golf on the on-site 18 hole course. What we didn't expect was a full blown Oktoberfest happening when we arrived! The owner was exceptionally accommodating and let us in without tickets to grab a beer. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the musicians play while drinking our beverages. They didn't have any gluten free beer for me, so I was stuck with cider again. We were really wanting to grab a quick bite also, but since there was a festival going on, we couldn't because we hadn't paid for a ticket and everything they were offering was full of meat and wheat. No good for a vegetarian with Celiac. While that didn't pan out (and the reason for 4 stars), the disc golf course was fantastic! Great signage and tee pads and very scenic. We would definitely play this course again if we're ever back up this way.

Beautiful outdoor sitting area! The beer was very high quality - you could taste the difference. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Options for everyone and dog friendly outside. The service can definitely improve. Though everyone was friendly, the service was incredibly slow. We were outside 30 minutes before anyone came to us (and we were seated outside by the host) and waited another 30 to get the check. If it weren’t for this, they definitely deserve five stars! Highly recommend visiting and make sure to make a reservation.

DELICIOUS meal with beautiful scenery! We enjoyed the Grilled Bratwurst with Sauerkraut and Vinaigrette Tomatoes. (Note: the sauerkraut is traditional and very sour.) For entrees we had the Roasted Vegetable Platter and the Grilled Salmon. They were FANTASTIC. We dined outside because the weather was lovely and we wanted a quieter experience.

Absolutely amazing place. We walked in to amazement on how beautiful the building is. The bierhall is beautifully illuminated at night. We sat at the bar and had great conversation with the bartenders and enjoyed some amazing beer. (I recommend the Dunkel if your into dark and smooth brown ales, and the UberTrosten is also a high octane smooth beer). We had a couple apps including the bratwurst which really hit the spot after a day of skiing. We had the ribeye and chicken snitzel for dinner,.. both were incredible. One of the best meals we have had while visiting Stowe, VT. I definetly recommend this place if you are in town!

This place seems to have an identity crisis for what it is, and wants to be. Our food was largely mediocre and the service was truly terrible. The house beer was however, great. Our waitress was very short and it seemed like we were greatly inconveniencing her by being there. More importantly though, it was incredibly uncomfortable listening to her be rude and condescending to, what appeared to be a new employee. That is so beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. Before coming, we anticipated a higher end brewery with house made food, and prices to match. To our disappointment, the food seemed to be closer to a warmed up Cisco meal with a nice plaiting and prices for food in another class. The aesthetic was very modern and pop music played over the murmurs of other patrons. This choice means it fits in firmly in the category with most other breweries, but severely lacks any sort of character or history to go with its heritage.Overall, I’d recommend you go to a different tourist trap, as this one was overwhelmingly disappointing.

It’s a beautiful place. We loved that we could have our dog outside with us. The beer was good, but that maple lemonade was the highlight for me!

Came here over the summer and loved it. Great views and solid food. The service was also responsive to any mess ups we brought up. Ex: two of our burgers came out with cold fries and they brought out fresh batches to make up for it. I had the schnitzel and I would highly recommend it if you love fried and delicious.

We were happy to finally make it to the brewery. We tried a couple of beers which were good. We shared the 2 Large Pretzel appetizers with cheese. The pretzels weren't large, really. Also had the bratwurst. It is really a beautiful setting (inside and out) and has a large beer garden. The weather wasn't nice enough for us to be outside but it would be a great place to hang out.

This stop was incredibly worth it. I’m not a huge beer drinker, but opted for 5 sampler and a small and was really impressed with all of them. The food was absolutely exquisite! We had the chicken schnitzel (with sauerkraut + red cabbage), the pretzels, the zucchini fritters, spatzel and the bratwurst. It certainly one of the better schnitzels I’ve had, and I consider myself an enthusiast having experienced them in Germany and Austria. Would love to come back here!

The Bierhall is a good place to go for dinner. The food is pretty good and the experience continues on the Austria in Vermont feel you get with von Trapp. This place is also very busy, it was super noisy and the service was a little slow at times. The dessert was really good! Prices here are middle to high range for dinner, but that’s as expected in this area. I would recommend trying it out if you’re thinking about it, just make sure to get a reservation!!

Little confusion at reception desk even with a reservation. Bartender didn't understand why I didn't want Pilsner in a mug...hate them. Food was good, Johanasburger was cooked very well. Pretzels warm and tasty.

Prost! 5 stars for the von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall! I had such a lovely time at lunch here! We were thankful to be seated by the large windows overlooking the beautiful outdoor setting. It's easy to picture yourself in Austria for a moment while enjoying their delicious German food! The von Trapp grandchildren were even seated at the table next to us! I really enjoyed the cheddar ale soup and pretzels for an appetizer. I shared a burger with my friend, which was more than enough food, especially combined with the German potato salad as our side. I'm not a huge beer fan, but I did notice they offer many award winning options. I opted for the hard cider instead, which was very refreshing! Reservations are highly recommended. They also offered a complimentary shuttle to take us to and from the von Trapp Lodge, which was much appreciated!

I would like to start by saying that I am no expert in Austrian food. The breadth of my experience, likely non- transferable to Austrian fare, comes only from eating at German Restaurants in numerous cities in the United States. That being said, I believe I can relate to others what tastes good to me.My friend and I went to the von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall for a late Sunday lunch.I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel and a side of potato salad. My friend ordered the Bratwurst, Knackwurst, Bauernwurst. Both of our dishes sat on sauerkraut and braised red cabbage. My friend's wursts also came with mashed potatoes and my Schnitzel was topped with arugula, with lingonberry vinaigrette and with a Von Trapp Farm fried egg.I've had Schnitzel many times in my life. This was the best Schnitzel I've ever had - the breading was not over-fried, but was light and crispy. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The sauerkraut and braised red cabbage provided great textural and acidic contrast. My friend absolutely loved his wurst dish! The (red) potato salad, purely vinegar‐based, was a delight. The balance of acid to potato was spot on.Our server Emily was excellent. She was responsive and never intrusive. I can't say enough about how hard we saw Emily working and the job that she appeared to do!I wish I could visit Vermont more frequently so that I could return to the von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall again and again. I strongly recommend that everybody visit and have a great meal!

The beer was really good, the place looks great from the oustide, large outdoor space, in the middle of nature. I had a lot of expectations from this visit. However, the experience was ruined by the wait times, the large number of people visiting the bierhall. almost all the tables outside were reserved. We were on a road trip and it was not possible to reserve ahead. We had to wait for around half an hour in line to order and grab a beer (it felt very chaotic). outside was a struggle to find an empty table (that did not have a reserved sign on it). The pretzels were really good, sadly I believed the cheese dip was more expensive than what it should be priced.

I was there on a Thursday night, great atmosphere! The bar was busy and I got to sit next to these huge windows and look out at the snow and mountains while I had a drink and dinner. The helles beer is very good! I even got a 6 pack to bring home. I will definitely go here again when I am back in Stowe

We had a great lunch here while just arriving in Stowe. We sat outside overlooking the little pond and the first hole of their disc golf course so my husband decided to play after lunch. Fun course and great first day in Stowe!

A great place to stop for some German food and traditional lagers. Everything was good, and the location itself is very unique and pretty. Definitely a place to stop if you’re in the area and like schnitzel, bratwurst, and lager.

We came here for lunch and were really stunned by the animal decor. I came to understand all the animals were hunted by a family member, which I'm not a fan of, but to each his own.The food was very filling and yummy. We got the beer cheddar soup, some sides, and the brats. Sitting outside was lovely as the view is really splendid. We also got a flight of beers. The flight servings were large, which was nice, but the beers were just okay. Very traditional Eastern European style beers with nothing really special about them.

Super friendly bar staff. My wife and I really enjoyed our hour here with a couple beers and an amazing pretzel. Highly recommend the Pilsner. Delicious. And the whole feel of the place really took me back to my first time enjoying German beers. The Austrian/Czech style is awesome. A real treat in a beautiful, beautiful setting.

We were referred by a local and were expecting a bit of a tourist trap. Instead we ended up having a delicious dinner. The beer hall and restaurant are a bit cavernous with an over abundance of game trophy heads on the wall. But the beer and the food was fantastic. We all ordered a side salad which was loaded with tomatoes, beets, cucumbers and lettuce. It was a bit heavy on dressing but the veggies were very flavorful. I had the salmon which had an amazing maple dressing- it wasn’t too sweet or overpowering and complimented the well-portioned and perfectly cooked meat. It came with a large portion of vegetables and farro - the veggies were a bit crunchy and not overcooked, really perfect with the salmon. The Chicken Schnitzel was great- very tender, excellent flavors and a good size portion. The Burger was large and juicy, very flavorful. We finished up with the Apple Strudel because when in (faux) Austria… it was huge, warm and not too sweet. We split it three ways and still couldn’t finish it.Definitely recommended- and get a reservation!

We went here for the beer and lunch. Everything was great-the food, the beer, our server, Seth, and the beautiful surroundings. Would definitely come back if we were in the area!

Herb and Lauren were absolutely wonderful. They both recommended the muscles that were on special and they were the best muscles I've ever had! They also offered to refrigerate my leftovers as my husband and I played Corn hole. We live here and every time we come in it's a great experience. It's truly a gem.

We stopped by here by accident. We went to the lodge, then stopped by the Trapp Kaffeehaus. On our way out back to Stowe, decided to make a quick R hand turn and ended up here. We got out and were fortunate to get in and seated quickly. There was an event going on the property and it was pretty busy. We sat in the glass enclosed area which was perfect, was not too loud, well lit and we were very comfortable. We had the burger, bratwurst and the lamb special. We enjoyed our food and enjoyed the specials. The beer was really good. If there, stop by and try it, it was actually really good.
